I was driving home on Friday on the ever-packed and wonderful Eisenhower the day after Thanksgiving heading eastbound in Chicago when "Bam!" I noticed that my head had gone forward, the car in front of me was closer without the gas petal and my head hurt. Yep, I got rear-ended. Not only did this woman completely slam into me, I looked back and watched a quick cell phone put down.
This is the beautiful part (cynicism coming)...she was driving a brand new Porsche Cayenne. Right off the lot. Car description in the passenger side, paperwork for a new car purchase and the dealership still had her driver's license. Beautiful.
My bumper is hanging by a thread and of course (her) insurance will pay for it. My insurance claimed that we had to file a report. I tried to day of, but after calling five numbers on the side of 290 at Mannheim (to the locals, you know what this means) I wasn't able to report it any one. I figured my chance of death was much greater as opposed to actually getting through to a Chicago government employee the day after Thanksgiving.
I had to chuckle at my horoscope for today:
You are a bit more in touch with your car, or maybe with transportation in general. It's a good time to listen carefully to that rattle and figure out if it's time to do something about it before it gets worse.
