We all love things from Sweden...bikini models, IKEA, simplistic living, socialism, calling someone a "Swede" and those great meatballs. But hey, Sweden also is home to some very fine electro-pop music that has come out recently, of these groups is Lo-Fi-Fnk. Peeked their tune "Want U" on an electro sampler from a while back and was instantly hooked. The album, "Boylife" is full of great little catchy tunes that make me think of fashionable cheap lighting and european beer bottles in crates. I also have a strange taste for a tall blonde man wearing great jeans and a sexy cell phone, but hey, it's just where the music takes me. Starting a little bit corny, little bit catchy you start to think it's not really your scene especially when "City" comes on. I thought, "Meh, I've heard this before." Give it a bit of a more listen and soon "System" comes on leading to equally, if not better tunes. It's a little different, more honest and less flashy than what is coming out of other parts of Europe (see: Yelle and La Roux*). Good porch music and finish that last sip before to "Want U" before hitting the town.
*The track, "Quicksand" however, is a recent favorite.
