Lolla-poo-poo-za

I keep getting poo-poo'd because I don't want to go to Lollapalooza this year. I admit, I've never been. I'm checking out the line up and have done a full analysis of the bands I would like to see, and the bands I have already seen. On top of all that, I have a very strong resilience to extremely large, sweaty, drunk crowds. Ask my friend how the last time we went to "The Taste" was and she can tell you all about my reaction to that type of situation.

Here is a musical explanation:

1. Radiohead
Yes, yes, we all love Radiohead. I, unfortunately, did not get into them as much as the rest of you. This is truly a take it or leave it situation for me. Sorry, you can disown me now.

2. Rage Against the Machine
Already saw them at the Tibetan Freedom Concert along with the Beastie Boys when I was 18. It was probably way better, and I was much higher than I would be this summer by far, so I'm going to keep that memory instead.

3. Nine Inch Nails
I kind of got over them when I graduated high school.

4. The Black Keys
I saw them at the Lime Spider in Akron, Ohio (since closed) with my best friend. I was appreciative of the concert, and it was a pretty intimate venue and a good show. Not my thing (too rockish), apparently they are very popular now.

5. G. Love & The Special Sauce
I saw them a long time ago. I associate them with an ex-boyfriend, so also going with no.

6. Explosions in the Sky
Sleepy time music...Grant Park is not my ideal setting to see this act.

7. Brazilian Girls
Kick ass band! They are probably going to please whatever crowd they play to in Grant Park and I'm sure will excel with such a large audience. I've seen them, and paid 10 Euro for it.

8. Octopus Project
Very interesting act I saw play with Nouvelle Vague (disappointing!) but caught whiff of them as the opener. Watch for the Theramin playing, it's pretty badass.

The ONLY group I am sad that I would miss would be Chromeo...but I literally would be paying $175 to see Chromeo play. I guess I could use my socialist government check coming to me, but that is getting spent in Europe. Thank you Mr. Bush!
