Qype: Coco in Chicago

Chicago - Eating & Drinking - Restaurants - Caribbean

As much as I love anything fried, mashed or covered in spices...did I mention fried? I'd have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by this place given my only experience with Puerto Rican food has been in Miami at 4 a.m. I normally don't venture too far west when I'm hungry, but a friend of mine had a http://restaurant.com coupon so we decided to check it out. After a $15 cab ride across town and under the Puerto Rican flag...finally made it over there.

We were able to just get an array of appetizers and a a couple of (absolutely AMAZING) cocktails which gave us our fill for the evening. Was a huge fan of the fried shrimp and the cocktails were excellent. Oh wait, I already mentioned that. Service was good, the owner was a doll and super friendly.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure when or if I'd make it back there ever again, but glad I got the experience. It seemed business was a little slow, so I hope that things pick up -- it's places like this that keep communities in Chicago alive. Best of luck to you buddy.
