Qype: Matisse in Chicago

Chicago - Eating & Drinking - Pubs & Bars

Right away, this place hit two of my favorite things:

1. Dining Al Fresco.
2. Really cheap Sangria.

Met a girlfriend here for a weekday sesh of cheap drinks, good eats and lots of gossip. Even though this place is literally 3 blocks from my place, I have to admit I thought it was likely preppy and would likely be unenjoyable for me. Boy, was I wrong. Then again, we were here during the week and not 1 a.m. on a Saturday night.

Pitchers of Sangria were $14 and we sucked them down like it was our job. But, honestly I rather pay the full price to ensure there was some booze in there, less ice and more fruit. We split a whole pitcher and neither one of us could really tell. Then again, I'm not the one to question about tolerance levels.

My salad was HUGE and really good, hummus platter is also gigantic and a good deal. The other food looked great too, was totally eyeing the burgers next to me and chicken quesadillas.

Check out my review of Matisse - I am superchristine - on Qype
