Qype: Twist A Tapas Cafe in Chicago

Chicago - Eating & Drinking - Restaurants - Tapas

I almost gave the restaurant 3 stars because I really don't like the typeface of their logo, but this is the font geek in me that needs to be kept at bay. Apart from the logo which I find unprofessional looking and odd, the food definitely does not reflect that one bit.

Big ups to a restaurant in Wrigleyville that doesn't cater to the $5 picher/$1 slider crowd and offers a well, mature dining experience in that neighboorhood (which, seems to be difficult to find around there). But enough on that and moving onto the food.

Everything we had was EXCELLENT. Started with the Mango Sangria, which was pretty amazing. The Sangria was more wine than fruit which is a-ok in my book. You absolutely must try the mac and cheese (we joked we would come back and just order 4 tapas of it for dinner next time!), bacon wrapped dates literally melt in your mouth, mini lobster tails grilled to perfection and the lobster ravioli was insanely decadent.

Plus, all that amazingness for very reasonable prices, good dining atmosphere...for the three of us it was about $30 a person and we were completely stuffed.

Why the four stars? Please start taking reservations...we actually didn't get a table until about 9:00 p.m. and were forced to wait in the bar next door blasting crap-rap and being stumbled on by drunk football fans. Not a way I like to start out my evening!

Even so, give this place a shot and you'll think you've found your own little gem on the Northside.
