Chicago - Eating & Drinking - Restaurants - Caribbean
- THIS IS IN SYCAMORE, IL 60 MILES WEST OF CHICAGO...NOT CHICAGO -
If you're looking for more than just bar-food fare this is a nice spot to go, along with a great selection of wings, finger food, etc. there is a good menu of carribean and seafood plates. Normally in this area your options are pizza or burgers, so I was pleased to find something at least a little different.
My brother had the half jerk chicken and really liked it, I had the grouper with their pasta salad (basic pasta with Italian dressing) and mixed vegetables. Althought it was edible, there was definitely nothing special about it...and the presentation was not appetizing. You could tell they just scooped it up and plopped it all on the plate -- garnish being a slice of lettuce and an akwardly cut lemon.
To top it all off it was FREEZING as they had a ton of people coming through the door since it was a concert night, pretty sure it was the first time in my life I've had to eat dinner with my coat on.
Overall, the whole experience was pretty akward and if I went back it would be to sit at the bar, have a couple of beers with wings -- but not sit down for a full meal at $15 a plate.
